During the last 18 months of WWII, 487 Mosquito Squadron of the RNZAF, operating over Eurper, took part in some of the most scintillatng low-level bombing raids undertaken by the RAF. Amongst their brief was to target the various Gestape headquarters on the Continent, a role they fulfilled rather effectively. March 21 this year marked the 60th anniversary of one such raid - Operation Carthage - which, unlike similar operations, turned out to be a somewhat bittersweet affair, as Paul Sortehaug writes
